Annual Update 2023
As part of our fully managed Genesis WordPress Service, Genesis WordPress Websites were all updated at no extra cost*. Here are some key enhancements:
1) All Genesis WordPress sites are now 100% running on Nginx with proxy to Apache and ready for Genesis Pro Version 4 and WordPress 6.7
2) All Genesis WordPress sites are running on PHP 8.3 and MariaDB 10.6.
3) All Genesis WordPress sites have added security and performance enhancements added and or replaced and or fixed. These sites are ready for the next LTS (long term sable) versions of PHP and MariaDB, which should be releasing soon. But we will await WordPress updates to fix any compatibility issues. FYI, while WordPress does not officially support PHP 8.3 it does work with exceptions, and we have ensured all supported plugins, Yootheme theme and customized functions are compatible and will do the same if needed when we switch to the next LTS versions.
4) All Systems running on the Google, Amazon and Azure cloud have been updated to all the latest OS, web hosting technologies and hardware with support till at least 2026.
5) All Genesis WordPress sites are seeing an average of 7.31% performance improvement with these changes. In the first half of 2025, we will complete the moving of sites to our global CDN option. This change will result in even more site performance gains.
6) For non-managed sites all systems on Google and Amazon have been updated to all the latest OS, web hosting technologies and hardware with exceptions for sites that only works using deprecated technologies such as PHP 5.6, as these systems are frozen, as is, in order to maintain the needed deprecated technologies. Else the updated systems provides support for PHP 8.4 and MariaDB 11.4 as options with the default set to PHP 8.3 and MariaDB 10.11 which we strongly recommend for WordPress, Joomla and most open source sites. Please check the site requirements before making any changes.
